Altis Sand Lake Becomes Orlando’s Largest Green Certified Community
The community saves enough energy to power 41 homes yearly, saves enough water to fill 60 swimming pools a year and diverts 159 tons of waste from landfills annually.
Orlando, Fla.—The Altman Companies has completed construction on a new apartment community called Altis Sand Lake in the Dr. Phillips neighborhood of Orlando, Fla.
The new 315-unit, 13-structure community at 7118 Altis Way is the largest National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Green Certified multifamily community in Orlando, in terms of the number of certified buildings it encompasses.
Altis Sand Lake is an amenity-rich community with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes. Green features include programmable thermostats with humidistats, high-efficiency water heaters, individual unit electric meters and sub-meters, 100 percent energy-efficient designer lighting and ENERGY STAR refrigerators. All features allow renters to save money on power bills.
The community saves enough energy to power 41 homes yearly, saves enough water to fill 60 swimming pools a year and diverts 159 tons of waste from landfills annually.
“We are very proud that our company has achieved its first NGBS Green Certification,” The Altman Companies Chairman Joel Altman said. “We at Altman are committed to see that our residents have an Exceptional Living Experience, and we are also environmentally conscious and care about a sustainable lifestyle. At Altis Sand Lake, we are able to give our residents both.”
Location is one of the most attractive aspects of Altis Sand Lake. The community is conveniently located to fine dining, shopping, services, entertainment and recreation.
The Altman Company was recently awarded the NGBS Green Certification by Michael Luzier, president and CEO of Home Innovation Research Labs. “Attaining our third-party seal of approval allows quality-minded builders like The Altman Companies to distinguish their properties from the competition,” Luzier said.
“Earning NGBS Green Certification means going beyond what’s simply required by code, to provide consumers with a better place to call home—an energy cost-saving, healthier, and more comfortable place to live,” he continued. “I applaud Altman for making this commitment at Altis Sand Lake for the benefit of its renters and the larger community.”
