Affordable Senior Housing Coming to Boston Suburb

Boston—The Boston Planning and Development Agency recently approved the construction of Hearth at Four Corners, a 54-unit affordable senior community in Dorchester. The project, which will be developed by Hearth Inc., has an estimated cost of $17.6 million and will generate roughly 34 construction jobs. Residents will be 62 and older, with incomes ranging from extremely low to moderate.

Located at 16 Ronald St., the development will comprise 45,646 square feet of gross floor area offering 52 affordable, single-bedroom units, two studio units and 14 surface parking spots. The community will feature four levels of residential units, passive and active recreation space for residents, staff office space, as well as a ground-floor community meeting room. Hearth at Four Corners is aiming for LEED Silver certification.

The property will be situated in a dense residential area, very close to the Four Corners/Geneva train station and within a 10-minute walk from Franklin Park.

According to the project review application, the team behind the development also includes Chelsea, Mass.-based The Architectural Firm, Samiotes Consultants as civil engineer, WaypointKLA as construction advisor and Development Synergies LLC as development consultant. Boston-based Nixon Peabody LLC is offering legal counsel and Peabody Properties will act as property manager.
