Affirmed Housing Renovates San Diego-Area Affordable Apartments
Affirmed Housing Group has completed an extensive renovation to Sonoma Court Apartments, using $4.4 million in low-income housing tax credit equity to fund the project.

Escondido, Calif.—Affirmed Housing Group has completed an extensive renovation to Sonoma Court Apartments, using $4.4 million in low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) equity to fund the project. The property is a 61-unit affordable housing community at 508 E. Mission Ave.
The property was originally constructed in 1978 and last renovated in 1999. This renovation not only modernizes and improves in terms of amenities, but also provides various energy-efficiency upgrades and enhancements.
The energy upgrades include the installation of a solar photovoltaic generation system, a new roof, insulation, Energy Star appliances and energy-efficient windows. Nexus for Affordable Housing Inc. served as the managing general partner of the project, with WNC proving the LIHTC funding.
Sonoma Apartments is comprised of a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Common amenities include onsite management, a community room, swimming pool, centralized laundry facility, picnic area, playground and gated entry and parking. Each unit includes central heating and air conditioning, new carpeting, a balcony or patio, and an upgraded stove, refrigerator and dishwasher.
