$8M Senior Housing Opens in KY

Dominion Senior Living is opening Dominion Senior Living of Richmond, a new senior living personal care and memory care community in Richmond, Ky., where nurses and caregivers are available 24 hours a day.

“It’s a beautiful building that does not have the look or feel on the outside of an average senior living community,” Tina Newman, Dominion Senior Living of Richmond’s executive director, told MHN. “It looks like a home and fits seamlessly in the neighborhood we are in. As you drive through the neighborhood, you don’t expect to see Dominion at the end of the road, and it is such a pleasant surprise.”

Located at 200 Meridian Way, the development offers a mix of 60 studios, one- and two-bedroom units.

The two-story community offers therapy and wellness programs designed for the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the residents and team members. The latter are encouraged to eat and socialize with the residents.

“Dominion Senior Living honors God through service to seniors in all aspects of development, construction, and operations,” Newman said. “Our company actually builds our communities followed by operating them. Our foundation begins with a groundbreaking dedication where the team writes down prayers that are placed in a Bible. The Bible is then placed in the foundation of the building. We continue with our culture training, love customer service model, Engage Training, and Tapestry Training on an on-going basis.”

Residents will have access to medication management and on-site physician services and medical services coordination, as well as, many other caregiving services as they need them. The community also features a large courtyard with walking paths. 

While Richmond is Dominion Senior Living’s first Kentucky community, a second one is on the horizon with Dominion Senior Living of Frankfort scheduled to open in December. That $8-million community will be a 44,000-square-foot personal care home offering assisted living and memory care.

Senior Living of Richmond has partnered with the University of Kentucky to launch an internship program designed to teach a next generation of senior living leaders and hope to partner with additional universities soon.

“We are located in a fairly small neighborhood with young families and even some older adults who just love that we are a part of their little community,” Newman said. “We have young people looking for opportunities to volunteer as well as some of the older adults who see this as a possibility for a next stage in living. They have welcomed us with open arms and we are so looking forward to creating many ways for us to partner and be friends in all that we do.”
