$35M Senior Housing Expansion Unveiled in FL

Kisco Senior Living is updating its Palm Beach Gardens La Posada community with the addition of Mallorca, a 54-unit building that will include a pub, a salon and outdoor socialization areas.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., continuing care retirement community La Posada, a Kisco Senior Living community, has been expanded and renovated in a $35 million project. The undertaking features Mallorca, a new lakeside addition intended to provide a broader array of lifestyle choices and to enhance La Posada’s continuum of care. La Posada executive director Brad Cadiere reported first move-ins took place on June 26.

Mallorca is a four-story building with 54 apartment homes. Those units feature one- and two-bedroom floorplans, full kitchens, washer-dryers and balconies. Residents will be able to take advantage of housekeeping services, scheduled transportation, wellness and lifestyle programming and access to Mallorca’s Health Care Center.

“There’s a growing demand for senior living residences with everything under one roof, including access to amenities, dining and programs for our residents,” Kisco Senior Living chief investment officer M.J. Ritschel told MHN. “To ensure we provide a community that meets the needs and desires of seniors, we decided to expand and create Mallorca. We saw an opportunity in the market to design a building that gives residents desiring to live on the La Posada campus a multitude of lifestyle options, as well as varied and enhanced opportunities for engagement.”

Among the amenities offered by Mallorca are an eatery, pub, salon and spa, fitness space and assorted indoor and outdoor socialization areas.

Under one roof

Mallorca enriches the lifestyle experience of all who live within our 22-acre campus,” said Andy Kohlberg, president and chief executive officer of Kisco Senior Living. “The original campus design connects residences and amenities via indoor and outdoor walkways. In Mallorca, residents will have all their amenities located under one roof. We are now able to offer every type of living arrangement, along with a variety of contract options to suit residents’ lifestyles and needs.”

Upgraded amenities in other areas of the La Posada campus include the renovated clubhouse and a new 3,400-square-foot wellness center with locker rooms and a workout space. Featured in that area are large glass walls permitting residents to view the lake and nearby pool while exercising.

Encircling campus

A new bar and lounge area, large-screen TV, and new dining area featuring display kitchen are among other newly-unveiled amenities. The community now offers a half dozen dining venues. Finally, the walking path has been expanded to encircle the entire campus, giving residents additional reason to exercise, while helping them connect with their neighbors around the La Posada community.

For more than 25 years, Kisco Senior Living has specialized in developing and operating full-service senior living communities that provide an enriched lifestyle,” Ritschel said. “La Posada, a Kisco Senior Living community, was able to finance the construction of the Mallorca building on favorable terms with BBVA Compass Bank. Mallorca at La Posada is selling entry fee contracts to repay the construction financing. The project pencils out for us.”
