3 Tips for Celebrating This 4th of July at Manufactured Housing Communities

Impressive fireworks displays, themed parades, public concerts and large gatherings are the most popular ways Americans celebrate the nation’s independence. As the vaccine rollout brings us closer and closer to the light at the end of the tunnel, this Independence Day will still be different from years past.

And as we gradually resume our pre-COVID-19 activities, many cities and towns have announced outdoor events with live music and fireworks, albeit more subdued than in pre-pandemic years. The 4th of July celebrations are just around the corner, but property managers of manufactured housing communities still have time to organize fun activities to make their residents feel more patriotic.    

Here are a few red, white and blue ideas to add that festive touch to your patriotic celebration this year:

Fire Up the Grill

Nothing screams Independence Day like a nice barbeque with staples such as hotdogs, hamburgers and steak. Set up some picnic tables covered with American flag-themed tablecloths and make sure there are stars-and-stripes blankets and throws on the lawn for those who want to curl up and watch the fireworks.

You can also encourage residents to bring drinks and side dishes to the party. This also makes for a great networking opportunity as residents will likely engage in conversations and get to know each other better.

Get Moving  

After more than one year of spending most of their time indoors, residents will definitely want to attend a community event that involves some physical activities. Whether it’s a simple game of catch or more elaborate “backyard Olympics” that can include lawn dice, darts or corn hole, encourage your residents to participate in these activities. You can even go the extra mile and entice them with medals and prizes!

And if the property you manage is home to senior residents, board games that celebrate America’s independence are always a safe and fun alternative.

Patriotic Decor

Last but not least, your office and the community’s shared spaces should be decorated with red, white and blue decor. If you don’t want to make a dent in your budget, try inexpensive options such as patriotic-themed banners, luminaries and wreaths, and even flower arrangements or balloons.
