287-Unit Project Breaks Ground in South Salt Lake City
The development will replace four office buildings. Castlewood Development intends to finish work on the new multifamily project early 2020.
Castlewood Development has broken ground on Harmony Square, a 287-unit community in the southern part of Salt Lake City. Prior to turning it into a multifamily development, the 5.6-acre site located on the corner of 3900 South and West Temple accommodated a four-building office portfolio.
The development site is very close to Meadowbrook Trax Station, as well as Harmony Park. There are several dining and retail venues close to the future property, including Southgate Shopping Center. Both Interstate 15 and Highway 89 are within one mile and Salt Lake Community College’s Meadowbrook Campus is within a six-minute walk. Downtown Salt Lake City is 6 miles north of the property.
According to Yardi Matrix data, Harmony Square is set to have 60 studios, 166 one- and 61 two-bedroom units, averaging 684 square feet. The tree five-story buildings will feature rooftop terrace and covered parking. Amenities will also include a fitness center, swimming pool, spa and clubhouse. Construction completion is anticipated for the beginning of 2020.
The area is seeing a rise in developments, as nonprofit Columbus Community Center has also begun work earlier this year on a 200,000 square-foot, 156-unit mixed-use residential development in the same intersection.
