2022 REIT Dividend Yields

Self storage REITs outperformed the apartment sector and the Dow Jones Equity All REIT Index.

As of March 31, publicly traded U.S. equity REITs posted a one-year average dividend yield of 2.7 percent.

The health care REIT sector recorded the highest one-year average dividend yield among this group, at 4.1 percent, outperforming the broader Dow Jones Equity All REIT Index by 1.4 percentage points. The self storage and apartments sectors followed with 3.0 and 2.5 percent one-year average dividend yields, respectively.

On the other end of the spectrum, the manufactured homes REIT sector logged the lowest average dividend yield at 1.9 percent; however, it outperformed the 10-Year T-Note by 29 basis points.
