2022 REIT Dividend Yields

In December, publicly traded U.S. equity REITs posted a one-year average dividend yield of 3.24%.

As of Dec. 13, 2022, publicly traded U.S. equity REITs posted a one-year average dividend yield of 3.24 percent.

The health-care REIT sector recorded the highest one-year average dividend yield among this group, at 4.60 percent, outperforming the broader Dow Jones Equity All REIT Index by 1.36 percentage points. The self storage sector followed with 3.13 percent.

The apartments sector and 10-Year T-Note had the same dividend yield performance at 2.83 percent.

On the other end of the spectrum, the manufactured homes REIT sector logged the lowest average dividend yield at 2.23 percent.

As of August 31, 2022 publicly traded U.S. equity REITs posted a one-year average dividend yield of 2.91 percent.

The health care REIT sector recorded the highest one-year average dividend yield among this group, at 4.26 percent, outperforming the broader Dow Jones Equity All REIT Index by 1.35 percentage points. The self storage and apartments sectors followed with 2.96 percent and 2.56 percent one-year average dividend yields, respectively.

On the other end of the spectrum, the manufactured homes REIT sector logged the lowest average dividend yield at 1.99 percent; lagging behind the 10-Year T-Note by 20 basis points.

The health care REIT sector recorded the highest one-year average dividend yield among this group, at 4.1 percent, outperforming the broader Dow Jones Equity All REIT Index by 1.4 percentage points. The self storage and apartments sectors followed with 3.0 and 2.5 percent one-year average dividend yields, respectively.

On the other end of the spectrum, the manufactured homes REIT sector logged the lowest average dividend yield at 1.9 percent; however, it outperformed the 10-Year T-Note by 29 basis points.
