Chandler, Ariz.—Wood Partners has announced that it will develop a 301-unit apartment community, Alta Steelyard Lofts, in downtown Chandler, Ariz., in hopes of capitalizing on the booming Phoenix suburb.
“Alta Steelyard Lofts is going to bring an entirely new look to multifamily housing in the city of Chandler and the greater Southeast Valley,” says Todd Taylor, Wood Partners development director for Arizona and Nevada. “We feel there is a meaningful blank spot in terms of walkable urban infill offerings in the area, and this is a tremendous match relative to all the high-tech and employment density here.”
Chandler, located about 20 miles southeast of Phoenix, increased its population 51 percent from 2000 to 2013, thanks in part to an influx of tech companies to the area, including Motorola, Orbital Sciences, eBay/PayPal and Intel.
The Biltform Architecture-designed Alta Steelyard Lofts will be comprised of five buildings spread across 6.4 acres and will feature a spread of one-, two- and three-bedroom loft-style apartments. Units will feature upscale accoutrements including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, as well as high tech entertainment packages.
Amenities are slated to include a cyber café, a theater, fitness center, outdoor lounge area with grilling spaces and a resort-style pool with deck area and community Wi-Fi accessibility.
“Alta Steelyard Lofts will bring excitement of urban living to the charm of historic downtown Chandler,” says Wendi Cooley, regional manager for Wood Residential Services, which will manage the community. “It will offer a style of apartment home vastly different from what currently exists in the Southeast Valley.”
The community is expected to begin leasing in September 2015.
