Weitz Tapped for Texas-Sized Student Housing Project
The tired trope that things are bigger in Texas may be played out, but how often to you read about a 3,402-bed student housing project?

College Station, Texas—The tired trope that things are bigger in Texas may be played out, but how often to you read about a 3,402-bed student housing project?
Well that is exactly what is coming to Texas A&M University. Iowa-based The Weitz Co. announced late last week that it has been tapped by the school to deliver nearly 1.8 million square feet of building space that will host 1,300 units and more amenities than you can shake a Snickers Bar (made in Texas) at.
The project will be built on 48 acres of pasture land on the south side of campus of George Bush Parkway. Aggies can expect to see swimming pools, hot tubs, fire pits, grills, outdoor restrooms, fitness centers, study and gathering spaces, and game rooms when the project opens. There will also be retail and office space, as well as an eight-story parking garage.

The design/build construction portion of the $360 million project is estimated at $245 million. Nonprofit NCCD-College Station is the project owner. The developer and manager is Servitas. Florida’s PGAL is Weitz’s design partner.
