Melbourne, Australia–Walker Corporation is set to strengthen its working relations with Brookfield Multiplex after appointing the contractor in charge of the construction of Collins Square’s fourth tower. Brookfield was also involved in the development process of Stages 2 and 3, and is also taking over work on the retail areas located between Stages 1 and 2.
The fourth tower will be a 22-story office property that is set to total around 430,000 square feet of office space and six-level car park. Designed to be an integral part of the Collins Square development project, the tower is slated for completion in August 2016. The other three towers planned for the sprawling commercial development have already been completed. The work on the transition between the first two stages of the project will call for the installation of a retail plaza roof, and the completion of the Stage 1 Collins St. entries.
Located at 727 Collins Street in the city’s CBD, Collins Square development covers an entire city block that upon completion will offer more than 2.15 million square feet of net lettable space. The $1.8 billion project employs a number of water efficient technologies as well as a rainwater collection system, and produces energy with the use of a Tri-Generation system. As a result, the development has been awarded a Green Star Design and As Built v3 Rating and NABERS Energy 5 Star Rating.
