U-Haul has broken ground on U-Haul Moving & Storage of Veterans Parkway, a 1,400-unit self storage facility in Sioux Falls, S.D. Completion is scheduled for early 2025.

The development will comprise two three-story buildings encompassing 700 units each. Plans also call for a separate warehouse including 1,250 mobile storage containers. Amenities are slated to feature climate-controlled units, around-the-clock access, as well as security.

Located at 3500 Powder House Road, the project is bordered by State Route 11 to the east, while State Route 42 is some 2 miles north. Downtown Sioux Falls is 6 miles northwest. Yardi Matrix data reveals four other storage facilities within a 3-mile radius providing residents with 4.7 net rentable square feet per capita.

In February, U-Haul broke ground on another South Dakota storage facility. The building will rise on a 7.5-acre site in Rapid City, S.D., and is set to boost the firm’s footprint by 80,000 rentable square feet upon completion.

Apart from U-Haul Moving & Storage of Veterans Parkway, South Dakota’s self storage pipeline comprised more than 70,000 rentable square feet across five projects in all stages of development—three of which being expansions—as of April, according to Yardi Matrix data.
