The Strand Residences is an 86-unit affordable housing community located at 5119 Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. NE, next to The Strand Theater, a local historic landmark. The property will have a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as first floor retail space for a local non-profit and a community-based retailer. The property is being developed by DMPED, the DC Housing Finance Agency and the DC Housing Authority, along with development partners NHP Foundation, The Warrenton Group and the Washington Metropolitan CDC.

Both communities are expected to be completed in 2021. The affordable buildings will have units prioritized for residents from two other communities—Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings—that will be reserved for households earning less than 30 percent of median family income. The remaining units at the properties will be available to households earning up to 60 percent median family income.
