daleyThe opening of Daley at Shady Grove Metro apartment community begins the revitalization of Westside at Shady Grove Metro, a Rockville, Md.-based 90-acre redevelopment through a public-private partnership with Montgomery County.

The first phase of the project included construction of 148 new townhouses located at the end of the Red Line Metro in Montgomery County.

“It’s incredibly rare to find such a large site for a new master-planned community adjacent to the Metro,” McLean Quinn, EYA’s VP of land acquisition and development, told MHN. “In addition to its Metro proximity, the largely residential neighborhood will include many amenities that will make it an ideal blend of urban and suburban, including an elementary school site, a four-acre park, pocket parks, two community centers and approximately 80,000 square feet of neighborhood serving retail.”

Plans include adding an elementary school, a dog park and a playground to the neighborhood.

“Our corporate philosophy is to develop in and around existing and planned transit and neighborhood amenities so our residents can enjoy a high quality of life at their doorstep,” Quinn said. “Building an urban village atop a metro station with retail, parks and a planned school gives our residents many opportunities to reduce their auto-dependence and enjoy the more carefree, low-maintenance lifestyle of urban living.”

Life at the Daley

The 333-unit Daley, which opened this summer, offers more than 10,000 square feet of amenity space.

“The Daley boasts state-of-the-art facilities for the best work out, the best work presentation, and the best spot to watch football on Sundays,” Melanie McAuley, assistant property manager at The Daley at Shady Grove Metro, told MHN. “Enjoy a dip in the outdoor swimming pool where you can lounge in shallow water seating, swim laps to diverse your workout, or catch rays on the veranda.”

There’s also an on-site Daley’s Tavern, featuring a large indoor living room complete with billiards, shuffle board and plush seating, and a fitness center featuring the latest cardio equipment, free weights, cross fit-oriented workout stations and a yoga room. Residents are also treated to complimentary fitness instructor-led classes twice a week.

“The appeal is the Daley has everything for everyone, including the business person in you, the fun person in you, and the one who just wants to relax at home,” McAuley said. “We strive to offer a unique living experience in addition to a beautiful home you can show off to your friends and family.”

There’s also an on-site Starbucks and other retailers slated in the upcoming new year.
