Toll Brothers Inc.’s subsidiary Toll Brothers Campus Living has chosen Mary Cook Associates to design the Lapis, a 1,100-bed luxury student housing serving Florida International University in Miami. The project is scheduled for opening by the 2021 school year. Humphreys And Partners Architects serves as the architect.

The developer acquired the 1.72-acre construction site late last year for $19 million, according to The Real Deal.

Located at 795 SW 110th Ave., the three-tower development provides students convenient access to various shopping, dining and entertainment venues such as FIU Soccer Stadium, Picnic/Camping Spot Hennington Island, Carlow Park, Burger King and Starbucks. Florida International University is about 0.3 miles away.

Lapis will offer common-area amenities such as a social gathering space, study alcoves, game room, lounge and a Cuban coffee bar. Additionally, other amenities will include a fitness center, conference rooms, study rooms, swimming pool, sundeck, hammock and cabanas.

Mary Cook Associates will design the common areas by using an aesthetic Latin-inspired bold use of color including rich blues, a distinct pattern and texture, and a curated art package. A mix of warm wood tones, graphic wallcoverings and patterned flooring will be found throughout the property.
