San Francisco—Developer Lennar Urban has tasked The Mark Company, an urban residential marketing and sales specialist, in residential branding and design of the San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point. The developments includes properties on a 775-acre site along nine miles of the San Francisco waterfront.
According to Lennar Urban, the project counts as largest redevelopment effort in San Francisco since the 1906 earthquake and fire. The entire project includes entitlements for 12,000 residential units of various kinds, many of which will be affordable units, along with 3.15 million square feet of office and R&D space, and 885,000 square feet of retail space.
The San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point will also include 100,000 square feet of community facilities, a 2,000- to 3,000-seat performance venue, and over 325 acres of parks and open space. New public transit options will also give the endeavor a transit-oriented component.
San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee characterized the project, which encompasses the largest remaining tract of developable land in San Francisco, as one of the “most important” developments in the city’s history. In any case, it will also have sustainable features, since the project is pre-certified LEED-ND Gold.
“A lack of housing combined with an influx of new workers to the city will drive demand for the San Francisco Shipyard,” Alan Mark, president of The Mark Co., tells MHN. “There’s little competition at this price point, and buyers will welcome the opportunity to be part of a new, dynamic community in an historic part of San Francisco.”
