Sunrise Senior Living Opens New York Luxury Housing

The 108-bed facility includes assisted living and memory care units.

Sunrise Senior Living has opened Sunrise of Huntington, a 90-unit, 108-bed luxury senior community in Huntington Station, N.Y. Sunrise Development Inc. completed the assisted living and memory care facility with EW Howell as general contractor.

Situated on a 5.7-acre site at 300 W. Hills Road, the two-story building houses a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Amenities include a wellness center, activity room and beauty salon, as well as Wi-Fi throughout the community. Activities available for residents focus on exercise, art, music, education, intergenerational mentoring, community service and spirituality.

Additionally, Sunrise of Huntington offers several programs such as Reminiscence Neighborhoods for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia and Fortified Foods for weight control. Residents also receive personalized care as per their Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and through information captured in Sunrise CareConnect, a centralized electronic health record system.

The senior community is 2 miles south of the city center, just east of Walt Whitman Highschool and 1 mile west of Walt Whitman Shops. The immediate area holds many shops and restaurants alongside State Route 25. The property is also 2 miles from the LIRR station that offers direct access to New York City.

According to a recent CBRE report citing NIC statistics, 60,883 units in 543 senior housing developments were under construction in the fourth quarter of 2019 across primary and secondary markets. The development activity in the senior housing sector is expected to remain strong in 2020.
