A joint venture comprising SJP Properties, Claremont Development, Battery Global Advisors and PCCP has topped out The Lucy, a 444-unit development in Jersey City, N.J. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
The project consists of a 24-story glass tower and the restored St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church, its rectory, school and bell tower. Michael Graves Architecture designed the project, while Mary Cook Associates oversaw the interiors. KL Masters Construction Co. is the general contractor, and DeSimone Consulting Engineering serves as the structural engineer.
Preservation work on the 130-year-old church began in 2025 and included restoring portions of the original structure, which closed in 1985. Of the total number of units, the glass tower will house 431 market-rate apartments. Shared amenities in the high-rise will include a lobby, a fitness center, a dog grooming room, a media and game room, lounges, coworking spaces and conference rooms.
Located at 619 Grove St., the community is close to Interstate 78 and New Jersey Route 139, which connect Jersey City’s Horseshoe section to Lower Manhattan, 3 miles east. Additionally, The Lucy is in proximity to the Hoboken and Newport train stations and several retail options, including Target, Best Buy, Macy’s, JCPenney and Kohl’s.
