EAH Housing has received the approval from The City of Los Altos to apply for funding and start the development of the first 100 percent affordable housing community in Los Altos, Calif.

EAH will develop 330 Distel Circle, a 90-unit property catering to residents earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income. Construction is expected to begin in 2024, with completion slated for late 2025 or early 2026.

Designed by KTGY Architecture, the five-story building will be constructed with mass timber and will encompass one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Common-area amenities will consist in a lounge, community room, outdoor courtyard, laundry room and property management office. The property will also feature environmentally conscious elements such as energy-efficient and low-flow appliances, PV solar energy panels and drought-tolerant landscaping.

Located at 330 Distel Circle, the development site is some 15 miles from downtown San Jose, next to El Camino Real and close to Interstate 280. Green areas such as Rancho San Antonio County Park & Open Space Reserve and Foothills Nature Preserve are 7 miles away, while VA Palo Alto Health Care System and Stanford Hospital are within a 5-mile radius.

EAH is the owner and developer of more than 8,400 affordable units across California and Hawaii. One of its developments, a 87-unit, fully affordable community in Emeryville, Calif., received LEED Platinum certification in 2021.
