SG Blocks Inc., a designer and producer of container-based structures, plans to build two low-income housing developments in New York State, representing the largest project awards in the company’s history. SG Blocks has been commissioned to design and build a 310,000-square-foot, low-rise workforce community in New York State and an 80,000-square-foot, mid-rise workforce housing development in New York City. Both multifamily projects will be fully modular, prefabricated and constructed as an “as-of-right” development that already complies with all applicable zoning regulations.
“We are committed to delivering affordable housing solutions across the U.S., and developers are embracing our disruptive solution as they look to monetize their assets in an expeditious manner. On a square footage basis, our construction backlog now stands at more than 500,000 square feet, representing a new milestone,” said SG Blocks Chairman & CEO Paul Galvin, in prepared remarks.
The company intends to complete the two projects within 36 months.
