Schlage Introduces High-Tech Multifamily Lock Line
Schlage Lock Company has introduced a new computer-managed electronic lock that is highly customizable, smart and efficient.
Olathe, Kan.–Schlage Lock Company LLC, a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand, has introduced three new interconnected locksets intended for multifamily and light commercial projects. The series includes two mechanical and one electronic locks. All three feature single-motion egress and a return-to-door lever design, elements that make it easier for building owners and managers to be code compliant.
The electronic lock (FE210F) is computer managed and operated with an iButton® fob, allowing the owner/manager to easily change access times for specific locks. The feature also gives the lock reporting capabilities that include date- and time- stamped access information. The lock can also be rekeyed on the door when residents move out with Schlage SMS Express software.
“The electronic version provides liability benefits that are appealing to building owners,” says Eric Elsmore, Schlage channel marketing manager. “The mechanicals can be used as an affordable upgrade to meets codes that require interconnected locks.”
The locks were designed to comply with the toughest building codes. All meet single-motion egress requirements, which means the deadbolt releases when the lever is turned. Additionally, all are ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 and UL three-hour fire rated. Return-to-door compliant levers are available, and all three locks can be adjusted to fit most existing hardware.
“In addition to the three commercial levers, these locks will work with any Schlage residential lever,” says Eric Deddens, Schlage vice president of sales for builder and multifamily channels. “This is important to architects who want visual compatibility with interior locksets.”
