The Related Group has made its entry into the Arizona multifamily market and kicked off its building spree in the area with The Manor Scottsdale.
The firm has tapped Humphreys & Partners Architects to design the property and McShane Construction Co. as contractors for its development project in Scottsdale. Related was expecting to break ground on The Manor Scottsdale earlier this year but decided to take a month-long pause to assess the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. With construction now starting, Related is expected to have the first residential units of The Manor Scottsdale available late in the first quarter of 2022, with an expected grand opening following in fall 2022.

The 286-unit community will include studio, one-, two- and three-bed floorplans ranging in size from 550 to 1,577 square feet, according to Related. The units will be spread throughout three-, four- and five-story wood-frame buildings on a 6.5-acre site.
The unit mix will include 32 upgraded penthouses, 24 Kosher apartments and 19 units boasting mountain views, Related told Multi-Housing News. Interior amenities at The Manor Scottsdale will include a poker room, arcade, fitness center, spinning and yoga room, golf simulator, salt sauna, wellness room, grotto room and wine lounge. Outside, tenants get access to a pool and spa, barbecue areas, and open-air courtyards. Located at 13220 N. Scottsdale Road in the Shea Corridor section of Scottsdale, the community is also within walking distance to the area’s retail and restaurants.
Michael D’Andrea, Related’s Southwest regional vice president, said in prepared remarks that the firm looked to incorporate thoughtful design and open floor plans to help residents feel safe at home. With these principles in mind, Related is building The Manor Scottsdale with touchless access for communal doors, faucets and elevators while also offering virtual walkthroughs of the units.
Busy in Arizona
With Related’s first Arizona multifamily project underway, the company also is working on three more multifamily projects in the state. D’Andrea also said in prepared remarks that Arizona has an incredible economic vibrancy with its Class A residential options.
Related is working on a 388-unit community in North Phoenix that is expected to break ground in December 2020, a 420-unit project in Chandler that will begin construction in the first quarter of 2021 and a 360-unit signature Related community in North Scottsdale. In total, Related is planning to have more than 20 groundbreakings over the next 12 months that total 6,700 units and $2.1 billion in the Southwest and Southeast U.S. markets.
