Record-Breaking Tower Tops Out in Austin

Located downtown, The Independent—the tallest residential tower west of the Mississippi River—rises 685 feet and comprises 58 stories.

CIM Group’s 58-story, 363-unit condominium in Austin, Texas, dubbed The Independent, has reached its peak height after roughly two years of construction. At 685 feet, the condo tower is not only the tallest building in Austin but also the tallest residential tower west of the Mississippi River.

Its distinctive architecture featuring glass-clad, stacked design fits perfectly with the “Keep Austin Weird” maxim. Residences feature floor-to-ceiling windows, patios or balconies, premier interior finishes in a diverse mix of floor plans that include one- to four-bedroom units and penthouses ranging up to 3,485 square feet. Amenities include a pool, fitness center, yoga and barre studio, children’s playroom, activity room and playground, sky lounges, guest suites, theater and business center with conference rooms.

The Austin topper occupies approximately 1.7 acres at the corner of West Third Street and West Avenue, a strong location surrounded by premier shopping, dining and entertainment options. Across the street is another CIM Group project, the Seaholm Power Plant redevelopment. The 1950s-era decommissioned power plant is situated on five acres and has been transformed into a mix of office, residential, retail spaces as well as 1.5 acres of greenery and community plazas.
