Mill Creek Breaks Ground on Fort Lauderdale Community

The developer will construct the 350-unit Modera Flagler Village, with move-ins expected in fall 2021.

As downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fla., expands into the neighboring Flagler Village, Mill Creek Residential is capitalizing on the trendy neighborhood that was once full of industrial warehouses. The multifamily developer has begun construction on its latest community in the Flagler Village neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale and is expecting its first move-ins by fall 2021.

Located at 555 NE Eighth St., the 24-story Modera Flagler Village will house 350 units in one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The property will also offer den and penthouse layouts while all apartments will have keyless entry and patios or balconies. The property’s amenities will include a rooftop deck with swimming pool, a clubhouse, a barbecue area with picnic tables, a game room, a coffee bar, a dog run, a fitness studio, digital package lockers, bike storage, storage space, garage parking and a business center with cyber cafe, computer stations and a conference room.

Modera Flagler Village will be Mill Creek’s second development in Fort Lauderdale, as the company also built the 555-unit Modera Port Royale at 3333 S. Port Royale Drive. In Florida, Mill Creek also developed 16 other communities under their ongoing Modera brand located in major cities like Miami, Tampa and Orlando. In September, Mill Creek broke ground on its 353-unit Modera Tampa community that’s expected to also open in fall 2021.

EXTENDING THE DOWNTOWN DISTRICT

Jeff Meran, Mill Creek’s senior managing director of Florida, said in prepared remarks that Flagler Village has become an extension of downtown Fort Lauderdale. While future residents will have plenty of amenities to keep them busy in Modera Flagler Village, they will also be located near Fort Lauderdale’s central business district and many local attractions.

Modera Flagler Village will be less than a mile from FATVillage, a district that’s transformed its historic warehouses into street artscapes and art exhibition space. The four-block district hosts a monthly art walk and a curated market.

Mill Creek’s newest community will also be blocks away from the MASS District, a much larger artsy district in Fort Lauderdale that features music venues and creative spaces.
