JV Breaks Ground on SF Student Housing Project
- Dec 10, 2018
American Campus Communities in a public-private partnership with San Francisco State University (SF State), has broken ground on a new 584-bed student housing community in San Francisco. Pacific Union Development Co. and RLR Ventures collaborated to develop the property.
Located on the southeast edge of the SF State campus, the mixed-use community will include 14,000 square feet of amenity space, including social and recreational lounges and an Academic Success Center. Additionally, roughly 15,000 square feet of retail space will be available on site.
Upon completion in 2020, the property will include fully-furnished apartment-style units with private and shared amenities. A new academic building will also be constructed: The Liberal & Creative Arts Building, a four-story property totaling approximately 76,000 square feet. SF State’s new addition will house the university’s Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts program, administrative offices, television studios, a newsroom, radio station and active learning classrooms.
“This public-private partnership with American Campus Communities and Pacific Union Development Company will help us meet the demand for modern, on-campus student housing,” said Jason Porth, SF State’s vice president for University Enterprises, in a prepared statement. “It has also created an exciting opportunity to contribute to the revitalization of Holloway Avenue.”
