Construction is nearly complete on Watercrest Newnan, a 107-unit assisted living and memory care community in Newnan, Ga. The luxury senior living facility owned by Watercrest Senior Living Group and Waypoint Residential will welcome its first residents this month. BL Harbert International and Interior Design Associates are part of the development team.

The property is located on 9 acres at 285 Summerlin Blvd., 37 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta, accessible via Interstate 85. The facility is adjacent to a Publix-anchored shopping mall and there are several dining and entertainment venues in the immediate area. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is within a 35-minute drive.

Watercrest Newnan is the first joint project of Watercrest Senior Living Group and Waypoint Residential. Their second project, Watercrest Fort Mill, is under construction in Fort Mill, S.C., and scheduled to welcome residents in the first quarter of 2020.

Luxury elements

The 92,000-square-foot community consists of 75 assisted living and 32 memory care apartments with high ceilings and spa showers. The property incorporates Coastal Living design complete with a pool, verandas and outdoor living spaces. Other amenities include a promenade, fireplace, water wall and multiple dining venues. As part of the multi-sensory memory care program, the facility features The Market Street Plaza, a simulated outdoor streetscape with salon and spa, bakery and post office.

Residents will have access to a wide array of services such as restaurant-style dining, salon and spa services as well as on-site Watercrest Institute classes. Medical services include medication management, preventative health screenings and licensed staff available 24 hours a day.

Atlanta is an attractive market for senior housing developments. A $300 million luxury project is underway in the Buckhead area. In December, the project received $86 million in financing, with the first phase slated for completion in the fall of 2020.
