Allied Orion Begins Construction of Austin Development

Allied Orion Group has broken ground on The Southbrook, an apartment community in the Georgetown Leander neighborhood of Leander, Texas, located 27 miles northwest of Austin. Originally named The Retreat at Oak Creek, The Southbrook is a 360-unit, garden-style community at 260 S. Brook Drive, off of West Broade St. along Hwy. 183.

Features and finishes of the one- to three-bedroom apartment homes in the exclusive community include upgraded stainless steel appliance packages, undermount sinks, wood engineered flooring, built-in USB charging stations and nine- and 10-foot-high ceilings. The list of amenities is highlighted by a swimming pool featuring cabanas and grilling stations. 

Designed by Humphreys & Partners Architects L.P., The Southbrook is situated on two separate parcels of land. The address is within walking distance of the new Austin Community College campus, St. David’s Hospital and Capital Metro Rail. It is also located next door to the new 115-acre, mixed-use “Northline” project currently under development.

“With so many big companies like Amazon and Tesla creating new jobs in the area, as well as Austin’s continued economic growth, the timing and location was ideal for us to build in Leander,” Allied Orion Group CEO Ricardo Rivas told Multi-Housing News.

Of course, with COVID-19 and the pandemic, we were concerned about the construction process, but with construction being considered an essential industry, we were able to mitigate those challenges and continue to move forward in a timely manner and stay on target for fall of 2020. Our first units are on target for the last quarter of this year.

“Another challenge we faced was getting the project designed in a way that fit the neighborhood and satisfied the city requirements. Our design consultants did an excellent job of bringing the project to fruition within the expectations of stakeholders.”

Residents of The Southbrook will be able to easily access highways and commute to downtown Austin in approximately 30 minutes. The community also will provide proximity to a nearby H-E-B Plus retail store, upscale shopping and an array of dining and entertainment options. Last month, Allied Orion Group was named property manager for an Austin apartment community.
