By Anuradha Kher, Online News EditorDallas–JPI recently broke ground on Jefferson, a 228-unit luxury rental community in the Arts District in downtown Dallas.Located at the northeast corner of Ross Avenue and Routh Street in Dallas, Jefferson at the Arts District will be a part of the city’s 68-acre urban cultural district featuring the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House (currently under construction), and the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre (also currently under construction).The community is situated five blocks from the city’s planned Woodall Rodgers Park, a five-acre natural area to be built on a deck over Woodall Rodgers Freeway and four blocks from the Dallas Rapid Area Transit.“The Arts District has a lot to offer and was the main reason we decided to pursue this location,” Brad Taylor, JPI senior vice president and regional managing partner, tells MHN. “We are the only rental product in the Arts District; there are with two other condo projects being built.”The six-story Jefferson will feature mostly one-bedroom units with some two-, and three-bedroom units as well. Average rents will be $1,800 a month. The project is aimed at young professionals as well as art aficionados, according to Taylor.Amenities include a TV lounge with a 58-in. plasma television, gourmet cooking kitchen, coffee bar, gaming consoles and billiards. Residents will also have access to a cyber lounge, fitness facility, resort-style pool and an outdoor fireside lounge. Unit features include granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and 10-ft. ceilingsSome units at Jefferson at the Arts District are expected to be ready for occupancy in January 2010 and construction is slated for completion in June 2010.
