Foundry Yards, a new 268-unit luxury apartment community in Birmingham, Ala., has broken ground. The project in the Parkside District is being developed by Novare Group, Prestwick Cos. and Batson-Cook Development Co.

Located at 15 12th St. S., the two-building development in Alabama’s largest metropolitan area will feature a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Amenities will include a landscaped green space and a pool, fitness center, club room and coworking space.

The project is designed by Niles Bolton Associates and Schoel Engineering. Doster Construction Co. is the general contractor. ELV Associates, BBVA Compass and Cadence Bank are providing construction financing.

Foundry Yards is nearby Railroad Park, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and The Denham, an 86,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project that will bring shopping, dining and entertainment options to the growing neighborhood.

Novare Group has developed more than 46 projects with more than 14,000 residences in the U.S. In January, the company completed the $190 million sale of SkyHouse Uptown, a landmark high-rise community in Charlotte, N.C.

In partnership with general contractor Batson-Cook Development Co., a subsidiary of Kajima USA, Novare Group kicked off construction of SkyHouse Frisco Station, a 25-story, 335-unit residential tower in Frisco, Texas in February of last year.
