Yonkers, N.Y.—One of the most sprawling residential projects to be built in Yonkers in recent years has broken ground. Ginsburg Development Companies (GDC) has commenced construction on River Tides at Greystone, a new $100 million, 330-unit luxury apartment community neighboring the Hudson River.
River Tides at Greystone’s debut represents the launch of the new GDC Rentals luxury rental apartment building brand. Overlooking one of North America’s most spectacular views, with awe-inspiring perspectives on the Hudson River and the Palisades, River Tides at Greystone is to become the flagship property of the new GDC Rentals brand, reports Martin Ginsburg, principal of GDC.
River Tides at Greystone is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and will have a direct walkway to the Greystone Metro-North station, located steps away. From that station, residents will be able to reach Grand Central in 30 minutes.
Featuring a blend of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, many overlooking the Hudson, the 10-story River Tides at Greystone will showcase dramatic contemporary architecture and expansive exterior corner walls of glass.
Apartments will offer stainless steel appliances, Euro-style cabinetry, stone countertops and bay windows and terraces, many of them with river views.
Common-area amenities will be luxurious. They will include a resort-style swimming pool and deck with cabana seating, seven barbecue stations, playground and outdoor fire pit lounge; an elegant two-story lobby; sophisticated club lounge; fitness and wellness center; and yoga classes and spa treatments.
The Greystone section of Yonkers is an area where GDC has built more than 600 rental and condominium residences. The firm has owned the site that will become River Tides at Greystone since the 1970s.
“This is our prime site in the neighborhood,” Ginsburg says. “Until now, all of the factors didn’t come together to develop it.”
There is a complete dearth of residential rental buildings in Westchester to compare with what GDC is offering at River Tides at Greystone, Ginsburg adds.
“We are taking luxury rentals to a new level of elegance and resort-style living,” he remarks. “We anticipate a broad market for the apartments at River Tides, from singles and young couples who are not yet ready to purchase a home, to New York City rail commuters, to empty nesters who want a truly exciting residence where they can live in a resort-like environment all year long.”
Yonkers mayor Mike Spano reports the City of Yonkers is delighted that GDC’s commitment to the city has been unwavering.
“Today, we welcome the beginning of River Tides, a project that will certainly establish Greystone as one of the premier apartment neighborhoods in Westchester,” he said at the ground breaking earlier this week. We are particularly pleased that River Tides will have its own walkway to the Greystone Station of Metro-North Railroad, reflecting our commitment to transit-oriented development.”
