Oden Hughes broke ground on its sixth South Austin luxury community since 2012. Two of its subsidiaries are involved in the 300-unit development: Oden Hughes Construction serves as the general contractor and Oden Hughes Management will lease and manage the property.

The yet-to-be-named community will occupy nearly 15 acres at 135 Foremost Drive, between South Congress Avenue and Interstate 35. The development is slated for delivery in 2019.

“South Austin remains a top destination for young professionals who want to live near work and popular retail, restaurant and entertainment amenities, but are unwilling or unable to pay much higher rents in and around downtown,” Tim Shaughnessy, Oden Hughes vice president of development, said in prepared remarks. Austin’s job and population growth remain strong and we expect demand for apartments in this area will remain high for some time.”

Vegas-style relaxation

The asset will have a unit mix comprising one- to three-bedroom floorplans, as well as two-bedroom townhomes. Rents are anticipated to range from $1,127 to just under $2,000 per month. Amenities include:

  • sky lounge
  • resort-style pool
  • two cold spas and Vegas-style cabanas
  • fitness center and aerobic room
  • billiards and shuffleboard
  • dog park and dog washing station
  • Green Egg smoker
  • package lockers

“This latest community by Oden Hughes offers the best of all worlds—an urban quality development at more affordable rates than in and around the Central Business District on a scenic, heavily wooded site that fronts both I-35 and South Congress for easy access to downtown,” added Charles Cirar, CBRE vice chairman of investment properties and multifamily for the Central Texas region.
