Atlanta—The Trillist Cos. Inc. has started work on YOO on the Park, an apartment tower in Midtown Atlanta. The 245-unit property is the first branded rental building to be developed by Trillist in partnership with London-based YOO Studio, which is a global design firm, and itself a partnership between property entrepreneur John Hitchcox and the designer Philippe Starck.

The development is at 207 13th St., between Juniper St. and Piedmont Ave. near Piedmont Park. According to Trillist, it’s conceived as an extension of the park itself. YOO on the Park is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.

Common amenities will include resident lounges and game rooms, with such features as a virtual golf simulator, and indoor and outdoor fitness facilities and studios. There will also be a resort-style pool and lounge with an outdoor summer kitchen, 24-hour concierge services, a bike fix-it-station for cyclists and facilities for dog grooming.

The Atlanta property isn’t the company’s only Trillist-YOO development in progress. In November, Trillist launched sales of YOO at Metropica, a 263-unit, 28-story condo tower in the Metropica master-planned community in South Florida, reflecting that market’s strong demand for for-sale residential properties. The partners are also planning several other rental projects in U.S. cities.

Since 1999, YOO has worked with international developers to design residential and hotel projects in Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Beside Starck, other the firm has worked with designers Marcel Wanders, Jade Jagger, Kelly Hoppen and Steve Leung on its projects. It has 79 projects in 55 cities worldwide.
