Brooklyn Mixed-Use Tower Breaks Ground

A joint venture between Greenland Forest City Partners and The Brodsky Organization is developing 18 Sixth Avenue, an 859-unit mixed-income property within the Pacific Park community. Construction is slated to be complete in 2022.

Greenland Forest City Partners and The Brodsky Organization have broken ground on 18 Sixth Avenue, an 859-unit residential tower in Brooklyn, N.Y., that will offer mixed-income apartments, including 258 affordable units.

The 500-foot tall tower is part of Pacific Park, a 22-acre mixed-use development near downtown Brooklyn. The new building is expected to be completed in 2022 and will be the tallest residential building at Pacific Park. Another tower, 664 Pacific Street, also broke ground recently, according to the Brodsky Org.

“As we accelerate development at Pacific Park, this groundbreaking at 18 Sixth Avenue will be a significant step towards fulfilling our promise to develop a world-class neighborhood in the heart of Brooklyn,” said Scott Solish, executive vice president of development at Greenland Forest City Partners, in prepared remarks.

Emerging Developments

So far, four residential buildings have opened at Pacific Park—condo building 550 Vanderbilt, fully affordable rental properties 535 Carlton and 38 Sixth and 461 Dean, which has been called the tallest modular building in the world.

In total, the massive development will house a total of 15 buildings and 6,430 housing units—2,250 of which will be affordable—once completed. The development will include eight acres of public space, community facilities, retail and office space, a new school, a new healthcare facility and several infrastructure improvements for the LIRR and the Atlantic Terminal Transit Hub.
