Mixed-Use Community Achieves First LEED ND Certification

Excelsior & Grand, a 17-acre, mixed-use community in St. Louis Park, Minn., has received the nation’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Neighborhood Development certification for a “Stage 3, Completed Project” under its Pilot Program.

St. Louis Park, Minn.—Excelsior & Grand, a 17-acre, mixed-use community in St. Louis Park, Minn., has received the nation’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Neighborhood Development certification for a “Stage 3, Completed Project” under its Pilot Program.

Excelsior & Grand was developed in phases between 2001 and 2007 by Plymouth, Minn.-based TOLD Development Company in a public/private partnership with the City of St. Louis Park. The Metropolitan Council provided three separate grants including a planning grant to the City and a Livable Community Demonstration Grant to TOLD.

Elness Swenson Graham designed the redevelopment, which includes 306 condominiums, 337 luxury apartments, retail, restaurants and two parking ramps.
