Marina Arts District Grows With $100M Development

Dubbed G8, the project will be one of the area’s largest multifamily communities. California Landmark Group’s development is located in a former Marina del Rey industrial zone and is scheduled for 2019 completion.

California Landmark Group (CLG) began construction on G8, a 230-unit apartment development in the Marina Arts District adjacent to Marina del Rey, Calif. The G8 apartments is a $100 million development and will be one of the largest multifamily asset built on the West side of Los Angeles in several years. The project is estimated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Situated at 13448 West Beach Avenue with access along Beach, Glencoe and Del Rey Avenues, G8 will occupy a full city block and nearly three acres. The development is designed as six architecturally distinct contemporary structures of varying heights, in order to reduce the scale and massing of the project. The design team includes design architect Rios Clementi Hale Studios and executive architect PK Architecture.

The development will be comprised of a mix of single, one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 550 to 1,500 square feet. Also, there will be a renovated, 25,000-square-foot creative office space incorporated into the development.

G8 will feature more than 15,000 square feet of communal space and its amenities will include:

  • a pocket park
  • three courtyards with pools
  • collaborative indoor and outdoor workspaces
  • a fitness center
  • a rooftop deck

Ideal Location

Marina Arts District is now home to contemporary apartments and state-of-the-art creative commercial space, but its original industrial feel endures through urban-inspired design elements. The neighborhood is easily walkable and offers many shopping, dining and entertainment options in the nearby Marina shopping district and Abbot Kinney neighborhood.

Additionally, the coastal area from Santa Monica south to Playa Vista is home to more than 500 tech and related companies, which earned the area the nickname “Silicon Beach.” Since 2011, the region has attracted startups such as Snap Inc., True Car and Dollar Shave Club.

“G8 is being built to meet the demand from millennials and young professionals who want to be near the beach and take advantage of the explosive growth in jobs created by established and startup companies in tech, digital media and entertainment in the area,” said Ken Kahan, founder of CLG in prepared remarks.
