Mack Urban Plans Roosevelt Neighborhood Apartments in Seattle
Mack Urban has unveiled plans for a seven-story apartment development at 800 NE 67th in the Roosevelt Residential Urban Village, which is part of Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood.

Seattle—Mack Urban, a Seattle-based developer, has unveiled plans for a seven-story apartment development at 800 NE 67th in the Roosevelt Residential Urban Village, which is part of Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood. The name of the property, Eleanor, acknowledges the former first lady as a humanitarian and advocate for fostering community connections, according to the company.
Eleanor will include 260 apartments, with an emphasis on one- and two-bedroom units for couples and families. There will be two levels of parking underground for a total of 200 stalls, and special areas for bikes with kid trailers and jogging baby strollers. The design also incorporates a dog washing station.
Rather than one large building, the project will be separated into two residential buildings. The two structures will share a courtyard split by a woodland boardwalk that meanders from one corner of the site to the other. The buildings’ rooftop terraces will offer views of the city and Mt. Rainier beyond.
Mack Urban is participating in the City of Seattle’s workforce housing incentive program. Eleanor will include units for residents making below 80 percent of the medium income, as well as two-bedroom units designed specifically with families in mind. “With a building called Eleanor, in a neighborhood called Roosevelt—we’d better be doing more than just the average,” says Jim Atkins, managing director of Mack Urban.
The project will break ground this summer and is slated to open in the late spring of 2016. The general contractor is Compass, Runberg Architecture Group, with the following companies also participating: Mercedes Fernandez Interior Design and Amy Arroyo Interior Design; Hewitt for the landscape design; CPL for structural and civil engineering; Rushing for MEPF engineering design; JRS for building envelope design; O’Brien for sustainability consulting services; SSA as an acoustic consultant; and Pangeo for geotechnical engineering.
