Capitol Seniors Housing has opened The Chelsea at Shrewsbury, an assisted living and memory care community in Shrewsbury, N.J. The $29.3 million, 73,000-square-foot property is operated by Chelsea Senior Living. The luxury facility is expected to welcome residents starting April 22.

Located at 515 Shrewsbury Ave., The Chelsea at Shrewsbury is 1.1 miles from the city center, less than 1.5 miles from the entrance to the Garden State Parkway and is surrounded by shopping and dining. Additionally, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy airports are roughly within a one-hour drive.

“After the entitlement process, demolition of a vacant nursing home, and construction of our new community, we’re … opening the first new, modern assisted living residence built in Shrewsbury since 2000,” said Scott Stewart, managing partner of Capitol Seniors Housing, in a prepared statement.

The three-story community, designed by the Meyer Senior Living Studio, offers personalized assisted living in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and includes 27 memory care units. Amenities feature:

  • Trained staff available 24 hours a day
  • Restaurant-style dining
  • Health and wellness program
  • Beauty salon
  • On-site medical consultations

The residents also have transportation services at their disposal and they can take part in various social, cultural, spiritual and recreational activities.

Last August, Capitol Seniors Housing opened another luxury assisted living and memory care community in the metro, designed by the same Meyer Senior Living Studio.
