Luxury Multifamily Project Wraps Up Near Milwaukee

Working with developer Mandel Group, McShane Construction Co. has completed construction of The West Living, a 177-unit luxury multifamily community in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis, Wis.
Located at 6620 W. National Ave., the four-story building was designed by Zimmerman Architectural Studios and consists of a precast parking structure and three wood-frame levels above comprising residential units and amenities. The asset has studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans.
Units feature 9-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, washers and dryers, stainless steel appliances and walk-in closets. Indoor communal amenities include bike storage, electric vehicle charging stations, package room, storage, clubroom with demonstration kitchen, fitness suite, pet spa and a sports zone and game area. Outdoor community amenities feature a patio and dining area; rooftop terrace with seating, fire pits and full-service outdoor kitchen and grilling areas, among others.

Mandel Group, a national builder and developer headquartered in Milwaukee, has developed or transacted more than $1.5 billion of residential and commercial real estate since its founding in 1991. The firm has built a diverse multifamily portfolio of urban and suburban properties of more than 4,000 apartment and condominium homes in Milwaukee and its suburbs; downtown St. Louis; the Minneapolis suburb of Eagan, Minn.; Waukee, Iowa, a Des Moines, Iowa, suburb; and Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Kan.
The West Living was developed as part of the company’s master-planned, mixed-use community called The Market at Six Points, according to BizTimes, a Milwaukee business news site. The company was selected by the city of West Allis in 2016 to develop land on National Avenue, west of 66th Street and Six Points Crossing. Mandel has also built a 30,000-square-foot medical office and clinic property in the area and is planning more residential properties.
McShane’s Recent Projects
Last month, McShane completed The Elaine, a 304-unit luxury apartment community in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, Ill., for developer Finger Cos. In July, McShane had wrapped up construction on two multifamily projects in the Southeast. Noble Vines at Braselton is a 248-unit community in Braselton, Ga., developed by Claret Communities and aimed at middle-income households. Also that month, McShane completed an adaptive reuse development in Clearwater, Fla., where the company transformed a former office building into 1100 Apex, a Class A, 134-unit, mixed-use multifamily property for GSP Development.
