LMC’s San Diego Community Poised to Open

The 368-unit Shift includes 19,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and features amenities such as co-working space, an art-walk courtyard and EV charging stations.

ShiftApartment developer and manager LMC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lennar, has started preleasing at Shift, a mixed-use community located in the East Village of San Diego, just east of the Gaslamp Quarter. Located at 1501 Island Ave., Shift features 368 units, 19,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and a sky lounge with views of the city and San Diego Bay.

First move-ins at the 21-story, LEED Silver-certified community will be later this month, with its retail space slated to begin opening in March. The apartment component at Shift consists of studios and one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 551 square feet to 1,658 square feet. The sky lounge includes bar seating, barbecue grills and a fire pit.

Additional common amenities include a sundeck and rooftop pool with other the views of the city, a seventh-floor sky terrace, lobby equipped with co-working space, and a 24-hour fitness and training facility with TRX. The property also features an art-walk courtyard, EV charging stations, concierge service and onsite pet park.

East Village is an Up-and-Coming Part of San Diego

The East Village district is home to several tech startups, coffee shops, breweries and restaurants such as Mission Brewery, Bottega Americano, The Nolen and Mission Café. The neighborhood is also within walking distance of the Art & Industry, Urban Discovery Academy and Quartyard, a popular outdoor event space.

Including Shift, LMC has five apartment communities in operation or under construction in Southern California. They include Core in Anaheim, which is on pace to open in the spring of 2018, and Luma in San Diego, which will open in the summer of 2018.
