LMC Breaks Ground on NC Luxury Community
The Ellis is a mixed-use infill urban development featuring 549 high-end units and some 20,000 square feet of retail space in Uptown Charlotte.
LMC has launched construction of The Ellis, a 549-unit luxury community in Charlotte, N.C. The mixed-use infill urban development consists of one mid-rise and one high-rise building and will feature 19,654 square feet of retail space once completed in late 2020.
Designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning, The Ellis will offer a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, ranging from 531 to 2,669 square feet. The mid-rise property, standing seven stories, will house 184 apartment units, while the 33-story tower will house 365 apartments, including 23 penthouse units equipped with smart-home technology. All units will feature high-end finishes and appliances.
Located at 512 N. College St., The Ellis features pedestrian access to the central business district, the 9th Street Station of the Charlotte light rail and direct access to the Charlotte Rail Trail. A variety of entertainment, dining and shopping options are located nearby, including 7th Street Public Market, The Epicenter, UNC Charlotte’s Uptown campus, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, The Cellar at Duckworth’s Rock Bottom Brewery and The Capital Grille.
“As the only new apartment community north of Trade Street since 2012, we believe The Ellis will be uniquely positioned to complement the historically residential First and Fourth Wards with close proximity to employment, dining and entertainment venues within Uptown,” said Jeff Harris, division president of the Carolinas for LMC, in prepared remarks.
Community amenities at the property will include coworking spaces, a transit lounge near the light rail, swimming pool with cabanas, outdoor fireplace, fitness center, community room, lounge area, digital package locker, pet spa and bike storage.
In November, LMC topped out Vireo, a 310-unit luxury high-rise in Atlanta‘s midtown district.
