Lawrence Group has commenced construction of its City Foundry Development Phase 2-Vande East project in St. Louis’ burgeoning Midtown neighborhood. Situated at the corner of S. Vendeventer and Forest Park Aves., Vande East will feature 270 residential units, as well as some 13,000 square feet of prime retail space on its main level.

Features of the residential units at Vande East will include floor-to-ceiling windows, warm natural materials, exposed concrete and varied textures and patterns. Interiors will blend modern aesthetics with industrial styling. The property will offer direct access to the Brickline Greenway, a hiking and biking path linking to St. Louis’ business district. Lawrence Group, which was the interior designer on the project, owns the property, according to Yardi Matrix data. ARCO Construction, the project’s general contractor, anticipates work will be completed on Phase 2 in the spring of next year.

Vande East at City Foundry, a $125 million mixed-use development, is an adaptive reuse project that redeveloped a 15-acre, 100-year-old former foundry where Century Electric Company once manufactured motors and generators.

City center

Midtown is considered the geographic center of St. Louis. Located three miles west of the city’s riverfront, it is situated at the intersection of Grand and Lindell Boulevards. The area is near Saint Louis University and the Grand Center Arts District and features much historic architecture, including widely varied designs from 1874 to 1930. Earlier this month, Banner Real Estate Group made news when it sold a 400-unit St. Louis-area community, Enclave at Winghaven, for $35.6 million.
