Landex Development has broke ground on Artisan 4100, the second property of its Artist Row development in Brentwood, Md. Construction work is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2019.

The four-story building at 4100 Rhode Island Ave. will contain 84 market-rate apartments sitting above 4,800 square feet of space for retail and music studio uses. Estimated at a cost of $29 million, the development site sits approximately five miles from Washington D.C.’s city center, with many public transportation options for reaching the city.

The building, designed to meet LEED Gold standards, will include a number of sustainable living options. The property will feature solar panels and the placement of electric vehicle charging stations, in addition to a bicycle sharing program for resident use. Other amenities at the building include complimentary Wi-Fi, nearby bike trails and a fitness center complete with a yoga studio.

“We are thrilled to be continuing our investment in the Gateway Arts District,” said Peter Siegel, CEO of Landex Development, in prepared remarks. “This is an amazing opportunity to help a vibrant area continue to grow and prosper while also supporting local art and artisans.”

Artisan 4100’s sister project, Studio 3807, continues with construction just one block to the southwest, with an opening tentatively planned for spring 2018.
