Jersey City’s 18 Park Celebrates Grand Opening

Jersey City, N.J.—Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop along with officials from Ironstate Development and Kushner Real Estate (KRE) were on hand July 29 to celebrate the grand opening of the recently completed 18 Park luxury rental building in Jersey City’s Liberty Harbor North neighborhood. The ceremony was held on the building’s landscaped rooftop deck.

The 11-story, 422-unit building, which began accepting renters last month, has already inked more than 200 leases and has seen more than 80 residents move in. Marketing Directors has been selected as the building’s exclusive marketing and leasing agent.

“This building in particular, represents everything special about urban revitalization and is an example of everything good that is happening in Jersey City,” Fulop says. “Jersey City is recognized for transit-oriented development, not only in New Jersey, not only in Hudson County, but on a national level as a model for urban revitalization. We are filling these buildings as quickly as we are putting them up, which really speaks to what we have accomplished here in Jersey City.”

As part of the Liberty Harbor North neighborhood, 18 Park offers residents convenient access to transit options including PATH and Light Rail stations and the New York Waterway ferry terminal at Paulus Hook as well as neighborhood conveniences such as shops, restaurants, nightlife and other entertainment venues.

Hollwich Kushner (HWKN) Architects and Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners collaborated on the design of the community, which features a C-shaped design that vaunts a brick and glass façade that offers views of the nearby marina and Hudson River waterfront. Additional design features include and elevated landscaped outdoor deck with a resident-shared green garden.

Residences at 18 Park feature upscale finishes and architectural features such as hardwood floors throughout, 9-foot ceilings, kitchens with custom cabinets and quartz countertops and a full-size washer and dryer in each unit.

Services and amenities at the building include a 24-hour doorman, a contemporary lobby with a 25-foot wooden wall fashioned by John Houshmand, a full-service fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, children’s playroom, a game room, dining space, a Wi-Fi Lounge, a screening area, dog run, private storage and sheltered parking garage. The building also provides a home to the new Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County, which is accessible independently from the rental component.

“It’s important to me to continue to be creative and look for new expressions that integrate the community and neighborhood and that are also forward thinking, and I think 18 Park is a really good representation of that,” says David Barry, president of Ironstate Development Company. “This building is contemporary, but at the same time it fits Jersey City very well.
