Hong Kong Gets Extra Storage Space
A Singapore-based self-storage provider has entered the Hong Kong market.

Hong Kong—A Singapore-based self-storage provider has entered the Hong Kong market.
Extra Space Asia has recently announced the opening of its first two self-storage facilities in Hong Kong, to be located in the city’s Sai Wan and Tsuen Wan districts.
The Sai Wan facility will occupy the entire 13th floor of the Hong Kong Industrial Building, while the Tsuen Wan facility will be located on the third floor of the Bonsun Industrial Building. Both self-storage facilities will provide more than 500 storage units each, and are expected to be fully operational this month.
“We believe we will be the first self-storage operator in Hong Kong providing individual storage unit security on each of our storage units,” Kenneth Worsdale, CEO of Extra Space Asia, said. “The demand will continue to grow in Hong Kong and the region and our challenge is to increase awareness on the benefits of using self-storage.”
The company’s two new locations in Hong Kong will feature staffed reception offices and all storage areas will feature air conditioning and dehumidifying systems. Customers will use personalized PIN numbers to access storage units.
Extra Space Asia currently operates 26 self-storage facilities across Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, totaling more than 1.3 million square feet of space.
