Ascent Uptown -1Charleston, S.C.—Greystar has completed the vertical ascent of its Ascent Uptown, a 33-story mixed-use development in Charlotte, N.C. Ascent Uptown will feature 300 apartment homes and more than 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor rooftop amenity space on floors 32 and 33. Also part of the development will be 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

The community will feature one- and two-bedroom apartment homes and penthouses providing from 472 to 1,384 square feet of living space. Quartz countertops with tile backsplashes, custom cabinetry and wood-style plank flooring are among the luxury features and finishes. Also part of the floor plans are chef-inspired kitchens with stainless steel appliances, 9-foot ceilings, spa-inspired bathrooms, oversized walk-in closets and high-capacity washers and dryers.

Common area amenities at Ascent Uptown will spread across two floors and include a state-of-the-art fitness center, cool-down lounge, entertainment kitchen, spaces for entertaining guests and conference rooms. Additionally there isa rooftop swimming pool and spacious sundeck, cabanas, grilling stations and fire pit. Dramatic, unbroken perspectives on Romare Bearden Park, Charlotte Knights stadium and the Uptown skyline will be offered from a two-level outdoor observation deck. Extensive rooftop landscaping, bicycle storage, controlled access parking garage and pet spa will also be offered at the pet-friendly community.

In “exploring development opportunities for high-rise product in Charlotte, we concentrated our efforts on core locations in Uptown,” Greystar Senior Director of Development Ben Liebetrau told MHN. “Ascent Uptown’s location at the corner of 3rd Street and Poplar Street represented one of the best multifamily development sites with frontage on the new Romare Bearden Park, adjacency to the Charlotte Knights stadium and true walkability to jobs and throughout Uptown.”

Construction on Ascent Uptown is slated for completion in spring 2017.

“The site checked all of our boxes and was deserving of what we believe will be the premiere multifamily asset in Charlotte,” Liebetrau said. “The building’s unique architecture, best-in-class unit finishes, unbroken views from every unit and two floors of unparalleled rooftop amenities should help reinforce Ascent Uptown’s reinvention of the Uptown skyline.”

Todd Wigfield, Greystar managing director of development, added: “Ascent Uptown’s curving tower will provide residents with amazing views of downtown. Within the design, we have included a pedestrian-friendly streetscape, an outdoor dining plaza and the building’s dramatic facade will further the Uptown skyline’s reinvention.”
