Following a pre-development approval from the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning back in August, EdR has started construction for the first phase of College View, a 1,600-bed student housing community on the campus of Mississippi State University. According to The Reflector, the multi-phased development will cost approximately $67 million.

Located on approximately 34 acres, at the former Aiken Village site across from Highway 12, College View is set to include a mix of studios, one-, two- and four-bedroom units. Phase one of the project will include:

  • 656 residential beds
  • 46,000 square feet of retail and commercial space
  • recreational amenities
  • outdoor entertainment zone
  • 7,000-square-foot day care center
  • parking spaces

EdR will finance, build and manage the College View development by using a 40-year lease of university land with a 10-year renewal option. Mississippi State will receive a part of revenue from the development. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by fall of 2019.

“We have consistently seen that new on-campus housing developed by EdR helps our partner universities to increase enrollment, improve retention and generate a stronger sense of community and engagement with the campus,” EdR’s CEO Randy Churchey, said in prepared remarks.
