Affordable housing developer and owner Dominium is kicking off construction of Sandpiper Glen in Orlando, Fla., a 288-unit community for low-income seniors. The project is benefiting from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits financing.

Located at 8890 Donnybrook Drive, the property is next to Central Florida GreeneWay and East Colonial Drive, as well as 15 miles from Orlando International Airport. The area provides a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options, in addition to green areas such as DonnyBrook Park and Cheney Heights Park.

Sandpiper Glen will include a variety of floorplans, with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments ranging from 630 to 1,286 square feet. Common-area amenities are slated to encompass a fitness center, swimming pool, salon, library, clubroom, dog park and a theater. Amenities will also include green spaces with grilling areas, storage lockers, elevators, community room and surface lot parking.

Units are set to offer walk-in closets, granite countertops, fully equipped kitchen appliance packs, central heating and air-conditioning system, trash removal services, patios or balconies and wheelchair accessible floor plans in select units.

Dominium Vice President & Project Partner Shaun Reinhardt said in prepared remarks that this is the company’s fourth community constructed in Florida.

Recently, Dominium acquired another affordable community, a 144-unit property in the Nashville area. The transaction was financed by Bridgewater Bank and the seller was Greystone Property Management.
