Dominium, an apartment development and management company announced that it is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Minneapolis—Dominium, an apartment development and management company announced that it is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The company reached this milestone in October but delayed the celebration due to the death of its founding partner, David Brierton in late September.

Dominium was started in 1972 by David Brierton and Jack Safar. In the mid-1980s Dominium expanded its business into market-rate housing; and in the 1990s the company began focusing on developing or acquiring assets using low income housing tax credits.

Today, Dominium is the largest multifamily apartment owner in the state of Minnesota and the eighth largest affordable housing owner in the nation, with more than 23,000 owned or managed units in 22 states. The company employs more than 900 people working at its properties and Minneapolis headquarters.
