Chicago’s Rogers Park Gets New Affordable Housing
Walsh Construction and the Chicago Housing Authority broke ground on a 54-unit community located on a vacant lot which hosted the former Adelphi Theater.
A new affordable housing community is underway in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, which has been seeing a lot of positive activity lately. Walsh Construction will work together with the Chicago Housing Authority to deliver Clark-Estes Apartments, a 54-unit property, by fall of 2019. The 58,000-square-foot development is located on a vacant lot which formerly housed the 1917-built Adelphi Theater, which was closed in 2002 and demolished in 2006.
Worn Jerabek Wiltse is the project’s architect. Ross Financial Services will provide part of the construction cost, which amounted to $13 million. Other financing came from the City Of Chicago as well as a grant from ComEd.
Clark-Estes Apartments will be located at 7074 N. Clark St. and offer a mix of studio-, one- and two-bedroom units, all of them equipped to be energy efficient. The ground floor will encompass 3,300 square feet of retail space which will be able to accommodate three new neighborhood businesses.
