Champion to Develop First Multifamily Project
Sunbury Pointe, a 146-unit community in Ohio, will be completed this fall.
Sunbury, Ohio—Champion Real Estate Development, a division of The Champion Cos., plans to begin construction on Sunbury Pointe, a garden and townhome-style residential community. Developed in partnership with general contractor Preferred Living, the 146-unit community will be Champion’s first development project and the Village of Sunbury’s first apartment community in more than a decade.
Located at 2183 Rushmore Lane, behind the Kroger shopping center, at the intersection of Routes 3 and 36, Sunbury Pointe will be built on a 12-acre site that the company purchased behind the Sunbury Mills Plaza, in the Big Walnut School District. The new community will consist of two-bedroom garden-style apartments, as well as two- and three-bedroom townhomes. All units will include Energy Star appliances and windows, and nine-foot ceilings. The project will feature a 24-hour fitness center, a swimming pool, a movie theater and a playground.
“While the population in the area has swelled, there has not been enough multifamily construction to support the influx of people,” said Champion President & CEO Brian Yeager, in a prepared statement.
The Westerville-based investment and management firm will deliver move-in ready homes as early as fall 2017.
